Isle of Wight Steam Railway – Wootton Station Open Evening – 13 June 2012

Residents of Wootton are invited to view the recreation of Wootton Station into a typical Isle of Wight Central Railway country terminus of the early 1900s from 6.00 p.m. on Wednesday 13th june 2012.  At 7.00 p.m. the Isle of Wight Steam Railway have laid on a special train departing for Havenstreet where you are invited to join their staff and volunteers for tea and cakes and a brief presentation detailing the project,  The train returns you to Wootton Station at 8.40 p.m.  This is a complimentary evening by the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

The formal opening of the renovation of Wootton Station took place on Saturday 19th May 2012, with the Chairman of the Parish Council, Ken Morris, cutting the ribbon and declaring the renovated station open.

Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Tea Party

Well the weather may not have been kind to us but there was no shortage of community spirit at the Vintage Tea Party in Wootton Bridge.  We decamped to the Community Centre rather than being outside in the village square and a wonderful time was had by all.  The food was plentiful and the music could hardly be heard as everyone socialised with both friends and people they had never met in equal measure.  The children were able to let off steam while their parents relaxed and the number of comments we have received since the tea party show this was a huge success and a day to remember.
